Seeking Class of 2014 Senior Reps + New Amabassador Program

It’s that time of year! Prom is just around the corner, and very soon after, your last summer spent as a high school-er will begin! With that in mind, it’s also time for SENIOR PORTRAITS. =)

I’d like to introduce you to the first year that Brittani Gonzalez Photography will be implementing a Senior Ambassador Program for students in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. How this works is that each spring, we will select 3-4 models to represent the face of Brittani Gonzalez Photography Seniors.

Once chosen, you get access to all kinds of goodies that go along with a free shoot! Let me explain a bit more. =)

Chosen applicants will receive the following:

  • 2 Photo shoots (1 30-minute session booked before April 30, 2013, and 1 2-hour session booked by September 1, 2013)
  • 25 rep cards to pass out to fellow soon-to-be seniors and friends
  • 5 of your favorite photos from the first session
  • 1 customized FB Timeline Cover photo

But wait, there’s more. ;) Each senior will have their own customized referral cards. For every referral card that comes back to the studio, the senior ON said referral card will get a $25 print credit, to be used towards photos from either the first or the second photo shoot. For every new senior that books a session, and bears a referral card from one of our senior reps, that senior will receive 16 free wallets.

If any of our senior reps bring in three referrals that book, then I will include in your package a PASS gallery. In this gallery, you can share your photos online, or with family and friends, and this includes free downloads of all your photos from your session.

Sound amazing?? We know. So with that being said, here is what WE need from YOU!

In order to be an ambassador, you absolutely must:

  • Have a great sense of style ;)
  • Be graduate of 2014
  • Live within a 40 mile radius of Toledo, OH, unless you’re willing to travel to Toledo, or to any area in said radius
  • Pass out your rep cards, and SPREAD THE WORD!
  • Make sure your parents are willing to sign a model release form for use of your photos in advertising and online
  • Agree to represent only Brittani Gonzalez Photography

Think you can do that? Then great!! You will find everything you need to apply by clicking here. This link takes you to our Senior Rep Application. =)

We are accepting applications until April 1, 2013.

24 Questions To Ask Your Photographer

In order to ensure that you have found the photographer best fit for your needs, it’s good to get to know her/him beforehand. A few coffee dates later, and it could be a match made in heaven, or just another stressful addition to your wedding day you do not need. It’s good to meet your photographer before deciding on them to make sure that their personalities mesh well with yours. Your photographer is there to help you in any way they can. First and foremost, with the photos of your day. Here is a list of 25 questions every bride should ask their photographer when making such a huge decision.
  • How would you describe your style? In order to really be happy with your wedding photos,  you have to know the photographer’s style, and love it. If you don’t love it, then there is no reason you will love your photos when they are done.
  • Are you familiar with my venue? Make sure your photographer is prepared. If they are familiar, then they already know what conditions and settings they are limited (or not limited) to. If they are not familiar with the venue, give your photographer the address, to ensure they will be able to scout out the area. Preparation does wonder to ease the stress!!
  • Will you have a shot list? Every photographer should have a list of must have shots (whether physical or mental).
  • Will you be the main photographer? Will the person you have done most of your dealings with be the main photographer?
  • Do you shoot with an assistant/second shooter? Does it cost extra? You can never have too many photos of your big day. =)
  • Will my wedding be the only even you shoot that weekend? A wedding is a full day experience. Be sure your wedding is the only event your photographer has planned for your weekend. You don’t want your photographer showing up to your wedding exhausted from yesterday’s event, and their equipment not properly recharged.
  • Do you shoot film or digital? Does your photographer shoot with a digital camera, or film camera?? Do you, as the bride or groom, have a preference?
  • What kind of equipment will you bring?
  • What happens if you cannot make our event? Most photographers have this covered in their contract. Make sure yours does too.
  • Does your package include the high res photos on a disc? If it’s important for you to have your photos on a disc for your own personal use, make sure this is included in your photographer’s packaging, or at least available as an a la carte item. Not every photographer offers this service.
  • Do they have liability insurance? Better safe than sorry.
  • Are you a part of any associations specific to your field? Find out what kind of involvement your photographer has in his/her community.
  • Do you shoot mostly color, or black and white? Find out what your options are. If you’re a big black and white fan, let your photographer know.
  • Can I prepare a shot list? This is your big day. You should have a say in what you want. Trust your photographer to know the essentials (bride & groom, groom & parents, bride & parents, etc.), but if there are certain shots you want captures that are a special request, don’t feel hesitant to let your photographer know. Be sure you have someone willing to work with what you want.
  • Do you provide a written contract? This is a must for any photographer. Make sure you have read the contract, and you understand it.
  • Do you charge for overtime? Sometimes it happens. You only have your photographer for a certain amount of time, and you’re not quite ready to let them go for the evening.
  • What is the photographer’s rate? The old saying holds very true:: ‘You get what you pay for!’ Many photographers advertise super cheap prices but, too often, the client gets substandard work, poorly printed photographs, and many other problems that hiring a true professional would avoid. Remember, your photographs are the only thing from your wedding that lasts. It’s an investment in something that will be there for you for years to come.
  • Can other people take photos while photographer is? Find out your photographer’s policy on friends, families, and other professionals shooting while they are. Chances are, for friends and family, as long as they are not in the way, most photographers will not have an issue. I do know that most photographers do not permit other professional photographers to take photos, though.
  • How long after wedding will the proofs be ready? Ask your photographer normally how long you will have to wait to view your finished photos.
  • Ask the photographer how they store their images to prevent loss or damage? Does your photographer have a process to help prevent this?
  • How many images do you normally deliver? It’s always good to know.
  • What about photo albums? If you are interested in photo albums, find out what your photographer offers. Some, like myself, offer them in package. Or they can be added a la cart.
  • Do you provide parent albums? Mom and Dad need an album too!
  • Why do you shoot weddings? And lastly, get your photographer’s take on why they started shooting weddings to begin with. It will give you an insight into their perspective.

I hope this post was helpful to you, and if you feel I’ve left out any important questions, comment below!!

|Senior Session| Mika Lynn

I’ve known Mika since she was probably about 12 years old. I remember how much she loved {ahem…loves..} Pepsi. She used to steal my books because she thought I read too much {the girl stole Twilight right from out of my hands!! I mean, c’mon, babydoll..lol} Mika has always had a huge heart, and it’s only gotten bigger the older she gets.

And she’s only gotten more and more gorgeous. She means the world to me, and I hope you can see just how beautiful she is, inside and out.  ♥

Facebook’s Everchanging ‘Face’

As we all know, Facebook has been doing some serious revamping lately. Every time you log in, or press refresh, there is some new feature that FB absolutely deems necessary.

Now, I’m not gonna lie, I haven’t been too happy with most of these changes. I thought they were just fine the way they were, and here they go throwing me for a loop. New features = study time. How the hell does this work?? Yyeeettt.. I do understand. Everyone needs to innovate. You can’t get better if you don’t change it up. And with that said…

I absolutely love the new Timeline setup!! I know, not everyone does. But for me?? It’s absolutely perfect. Everyone’s making the switch come September 29th, yet for those overeager FBers (such as myself) there are some steps you can follow to change it now. The only thing is that currently, only other profiles who have already converted can see the new layout. No one else can just yet. And for that reason, I’ve posted a screen shot of my new profile!! It’s pretty frickin’ sweet. =)

What do you think about the new layout?? As excited as I am, or not so much??
